    Addy’s 3rd Birthday – Part Two

Outfits. You’ll see me say it again in later posts about planning Addy’s birthday party, but one of the things I recommend people do when planning a party is to imagine how you would like the photos to look. Think of the photos you’ll collect after the party. What do you see? You probably imagined a nice family photo. How did you look? In today’s post we’ll focus on how to put a group outfit together that will look great in photos. For Addy’s party we had Billy Dickson from Just Shoot Me Photography come to capture the event for us. It was perfect because while I was running around…

    Addy’s 3rd Birthday – Part One

I apologize that I have significantly slowed down my posting and photography over the past few weeks. Work has been busy and Addy’s birthday party has been a priority for me. But today is the day! After today I can get back to focusing on my photography, and my latest passion project. Here’s what I am looking forward to tackling: More photography collaborations, including recreating other images/art Launching a resource page for my community of self-taught Moms who want to improve their photography and editing (let me know if you want to join our group chat!) This Heavenly, Organic Balloon Arch Vintage High Chair Inspiration is a Smash for Baby’s First Birthday | Ventura County, CA

Oh Mister! Suspenders and blue jeans, white and navy blue ribbon bunting, organic white balloon arch over a white vintage high chair, mustache balloons and mustache cake…could anything be more charming and dashing than this one year photoshoot and cake smash inspiration? We don’t think so! Baby Dante (later joined by his sisters) is looking sharp in his outfit at this Thousand Oaks outdoor location at Conejo Creek North Park. We spent the morning celebrating baby’s one year milestone with The De Luxe Balloon Company putting together a heavenly, organic balloon arch around the cool vintage high chair. The white and blue mustache smash cake from the Golden Mittens Bakery tasted as great as…

Baby Aaliyah’s One Year Session | Oxnard, CA

I had the best session with Baby Aaliyah, or “Birdie” as her family calls her. Her one year birthday theme was Disney’s Vampirina and she looked so cute in her tutu! (Mom got it on Etsy) If you look through the photos you can see all of her personality and sass coming through, especially with all the amazing expressions she gave me during our session. Credit for the amazing photos goes to Baby Aaliyah and her family who know how to have fun with each other. I loved working with such a loving family! Baby Emi’s 1 Year and Cake Smash Session | Oxnard, CA

From the moment I walked into Ezra and Hugo’s home for Emi’s One Year and Cake Smash Session, Emi’s giggles and smiles grabbed my attention. On set she was crawling around, dancing, and laughing. She quickly won me over, and I had the best time photographing her. As expected, Mom had to help get her started with the cake smash, but once she tasted the chocolate pieces on the cake, she was hooked! On the creative side of things, this photoshoot was a fun one for me. Instead of having to choose a single theme for Emi’s session, we decided to combine the various themes and tie them together using a…

Baby Addy’s First Pumpkin Patch | Thousand Oaks, CA

Whether it’s baby’s first pumpkin patch or an annual family trip to pick up the perfect set of pumpkins, going to the pumpkin patch just kicks of the Fall season right. It’s not too long after pumpkins line our porches that we start picking out our Halloween costumes, looking up Thanksgiving recipes and shopping for Christmas trees. Baby Addy’s first pumpkin patch trip was special with an entourage of parents and grandparents to help with her first big pumpkin decisions. She found all sorts of pumpkins of different shapes and sizes, but in the end she chose the “baby” sized pumpkin, while Mom and Dad got their matching “mom” and…
